Gold Coast Guaranteed Start race ~ 1st place amendment ~ 2 November 2021
The winner of The Ac-Tec Services Jericho Cup Qualifier BM70 Handicap being Hamilton Place trained by Nicole Luke, unfortunately does not qualify on breeding requirements, even though he is born to Australian timelines and has no indication of him being bred overseas on his Australian registration.
The Jericho Cup is for Australasian bred horses conceived and born in Australia and New Zealand and Hamilton Place was bred in Europe.
Therefore the 1st official Australasian bred horse across the line for this Guaranteed Start race is Tides of Jupiter trained by Five Star Racing Partnerships, we hope to see this great horse along with all connections take part in The Jericho Cup 2021!!
Congratulations also to all connections of 2nd Australasian bred horse over the line (3rd place) Deel of Fortune trained by John Zielke Racing. Deel of Fortune is now on the points table with 4 points.
And last but not least congratulations to all connections of Fu Ni trained by Kris Lees Racing!! Fu Ni is now on the points table with 2 points.
As per Jericho Cup Guaranteed Start qualifying rules the 2nd and 3rd Australasian Bred horses over the line will earn double points (4 and 2 points respectively), with the winner given a guaranteed start in The Jericho Cup 2021 (should they nominate and accept)!!
This year the GS races started earlier than normal with the first GS race happening at Warrnambool Racing Club on 26th March, followed by the above mentioned race being our first GS race in WA being at Albany Racing Club over Anzac Day weekend which was such a fitting race for this day as this is where the soldiers and their horses left from on ships when departing for WWI.
The GS races and dates for the rest of 2021 (began in August) are up on our website under the Events page, which includes all races in New Zealand and Australia.
The points table and all results along with the explanation of the qualifying/points system and upcoming qualifying races can be seen on our website under the 'Qualifying' and 'Points' pages.
The final field for the Jericho Cup 2021 will be determined according to total points accrued, after allowing for any guaranteed starters.
It is feasible that a horse could get in with no points (as long as it passes the breeding requirement). But any horse with just one point will get in ahead of those without any.
The Jericho Cup 2021 will be run this year on Sunday the 28th of November (run annually on the 4th Sunday after The Melbourne Cup).
